Chrystal is an Australian photographic artist working across portraiture and conceptual image-making, with a practice grounded in the maternal gaze. Through portraiture and image-making, I explore the rhythms that shape human experience: fertility, care, domestic ritual, memory, and our relationship with the natural world. I am interested in the ways images can hold complexity: tenderness and resistance, visibility and invisibility, personal experience and cultural expectation. My practice seeks to create visual narratives that challenge inherited assumptions while remaining attentive to the beauty realities of everyday life.
